Daniela Keiser

As a conceptual and installation artist, Daniela Keiser (born 1963 in Neuhausen, lives in Zurich) works with photography and language in various exhibition and presentation formats. Just recently, the Zurich-based artist pulled together a translation symposium under the heading “In and Out of Translation” in which text-based works she has created over many years are discussed from the point of view of their translators and collected in a volume published by Edition Fink. Keiser draws on a close network of people with whom she has been working for years and who, in some way or other, have helped shape her work. Aside from text, the photographic image occupies a central place in her artistic work. She studied at the Basel Academy of Art and Design and the Zurich University of the Arts, and has taught at the Bern University of the Arts since 2008. She has completed studio residences and worked abroad at locations including London, Paris, New York, Berlin, Cairo and Turkey. Her work is represented in a number of public collections, including the Fotomuseum Winterthur, the Museum für Gegenwartskunst Basel, and the Swiss National Library in Bern.
